Throw A "Green" DVD Marathon With Friends!

If you love the environment and you are looking for a fun way to increase awareness about going green, organise a "green movie night" with friends! Prepare at least five of your favourite green movies and send invitations through e-mail at least a week before your DVD party. To match your green party theme, ask guests to come in Earth colours. Add a touch of quirkiness by recycling old newspapers and turning them into party hats. Welcome each guest with a newspaper hat as they walk through the door. It is a great way to set the festive tone for the evening. Since the party is about being eco-friendly, you can serve organic foods. Organic fruits and nuts make great snacks. You can also make a salad filled with organic vegetables.

As an interesting start to your evening, begin the night with an action-packed film such as "The Day After Tomorrow". It displays the possible devastating results of global warming, complete with stunning visual effects. If you are more into suspense and mystery, step back into time and watch the 1973 sci-fi classic "Soylent Green". In this film, an over-polluted Earth is dying. Oceans have dried up and there is food shortage everywhere. The only remaining source of food is the massive Soylent Corporation that distributes Soylent wafers. Eventually, a police detective makes the most horrifying discovery - Soylent green wafers are actually made of dead people!

If you would rather stay away from morbid movie plots and stick with facts, you can always count on Leonardo Dicaprio's "The 11th Hour" and Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth". With all these great films, you and your friends should feel inspired to do more for the Earth by the end of the evening.
